MINEX Russia 2021 summary
The 17th MINEX RUSSIA Mining and Exploration Forum took place in Moscow from 5 to 7 October 2021 under the theme “Building mining industry of the future”.
MINEX Russia Forum is a leading international industry platform that opens new opportunities and formats for business development in the mining and metallurgical industries of Russia and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Community.

Hybrid format
The Forum program combined a set of events organised onsite in Moscow and virtually. Thanks to the hybrid technology, participants were able to listen to the presentations and ask speakers presenting at the physical venue in Moscow and remotely. This technology also enabled simultaneous translation from Russian and English languages.

Mining Exhibition
MINEX Russia Mining Trade and Projects Exhibition organised alongside the forum from 6 to 7 October attracted over 600 physical visitors. 84 Russian and International companies were presenting on-site advanced industry solutions, technologies, and projects. Forum participants
More than 630 participants from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Australia, Austria, United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Finland, Turkey, and Switzerland were attending in-person forum events in Moscow.

Master-classes
On Tuesday 5 October the program of the forum opened with a series of masterclasses that examined the latest technologies and practices for improving the efficiency of mining operations.
Masterclasses were led by specialists from AMC Consultants (Australia), Seequent (New Zealand, Russia), SRK Consulting (Russia, UK), IHC Mining (Netherlands, Russia), and Continental Conveying Solutions (Germany, Russia).

MINEX Russia Forum
The Mainstream sessions of MINEX Russia Forum were held on Wednesday, 6 October brining on-stage and remotely leading experts, heads of major mining companies and authorities. After lunch, the forum continued in the format of technical sessions and panel discussions.
Themes covered on the first day of the forum:
- The world and the mining industry. New realities – new trends.
- Development of sustainable and highly efficient mining and metallurgical industry in Russia.
- Place and role of sustainable development in the corporate structure of Russian companies.
- IT solutions and innovations in geological exploration.
- Integration of science into production: experience, problems, prospects.
The program of the first day of the forum ended with a panel discussion “Work of the future in the mining and metallurgical industry. How to attract young people and use the potential of women’s leadership. Cases of companies” organised in partnership with WIM Russia.

MineMovie Film Festival
MINEX Russia Forum hosted the 3rd MineMovie Film Festival organised jointly with the First Geological Channel with the support of ARMZ Gornye Mashina (General partner) and sponsored by OGK Group (Gold sponsor), MICROMINE and MISIS.
68 short films from 37 companies from Russia, Kazakhstan, Germany, and New Zealand have been selected for the festival finals.
The festival laureate awards took place on 6 October on the main stage of the forum.

Mining Goes Digital Conference
For the third time, MINEX Russia Forum provided an international platform for the Mining Goes Digital Conference which showcased technological transformation and digitalisation practices of mining and metallurgical enterprises.

Mining and Metals HR Conference
For the first time, MINEX Russia Forum hosted the Mining and Metals HR Conference where companies and universities were presenting projects and practices of human resources management and training.
The session “Climb up the mountain”: how to make the mining industry more engaging for the youth”, organised in partnership with MICROMINE, facilitated the discussion between companies and universities on challenges of management training and workers’ skill set development required to operate mining and metals production designed with the Industry 4.0 technologies.
After short break the conference continued in the Teleconference format remotely connecting University teams from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Germany. The Teleconference was organised in partnership with the National Science and Technological University (MISIS) under the theme “Intellectual resources of mining of the future. How to combine human and artificial intelligence to ensure sustainable development and social inclusivity?”

MINEX Russia Forum
On Thursday, 7 October, the MINEX Russia Forum continued in the format of technical sessions and Panel discussions addressing the following themes:
- Practical aspects of increasing the efficiency of reproduction of the mineral resources in Russia.
- Innovations in mining, processing and processing of minerals.
- Environmental support of mining operations.
- Design, construction and operational management of industrial facilities and deposits.
- Innovative solutions in the production of drill pipes SSK (in partnership with EZTAB).
The forum program also featured a session jointly organised with Norilsk Nickel and the “Who Cares” project under the theme “The Club of Change Practitioners: How to Form and Preserve a Living Corporate Community”.

Announcement of the winners of MineGeo, MineProject, MineESG, MineHR, MineTech, MineDigital competitions was held at the final day of the Forum and was followed by the Russian Mining Award ceremony.

The 15th Russian Mining Award
The forum culminated with a gala reception and the presentation of the 15th “Russian Mining Awards“.
Held since 2007, the competition is regarded by the industry as Russia’s “Mining Oscars”. The Russian Mining Award competition allows to evaluate and promote the best achievements in various areas of the mining & metals industry, including geological exploration, technological development, investment and finance, human resources development, environmental management.
