MineGeo Competition

The competition of Mineral Resource Development Projects

The MineGEO Competition will be organised on October 6-7, 2021 on the MINEX Russia Forum platform.
Venue: Radisson Slavyanskaya Hotel & Business Centre, 2 Europe Square, Moscow

Mining industry plays a key role in global production. Energy, construction, transport, mechanical engineering, communications, agricultural and food industries, and other sectors of economy depend on sustainable access to critical raw materials produced by mining. Taking into account the global depletion of resources and decline of ore quality, a fundamental transformation of mining industry at all levels is required to ensure sustainable supply of metals and minerals.

Mining and exploration projects require significant investments. Mistakes can be very costly. Learning from practical experiences and cases can help companies and investors to assess the risks and make competent decisions.

MineGeo competition provides benchmarking platform for
Mineral Resource Projects being developed in Russia and the CIS countries

Competition Objectives

To present significant projects aimed at the development of mineral resources and increasing efficiency of geological exploration in Russia and the CIS countries.

To evaluate and benchmark the most effective practice driven methods and technologies for prospecting, exploration, and evaluation of mineral deposits.

To provide an international investment platform for presentation of mineral and metals exploration projects in Russia.

To form recommendations and proposals for improving the regulatory framework in Russia to stimulate geological exploration using advanced practices and technologies.

How is the Сompetition Organised

Nomination Groups

MineGeo competition is divided into two groups. The first features large-scale projects implemented by major mining companies and organisations. The second lists projects developed by junior prospecting and geological exploration companies.

Large-scale projects definition

Large-scale projects developed in 2020-21 on the territory of the Russian Federation or the Eurasian Economic Union countries, which made it possible to ensure a significant expansion of mineral resource base and an increase of reserves (including the discovery of new deposits). The assessment takes into account reserves confirmed by FSUE “GKZ” or/and estimated in accordance with international standards of the CRIRSCO group; the size of funding; uniqueness; difficulty in implementation; use of innovative methods and technologies.

Junior projects definition

Exploration of mineral and metals deposits in Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union countries carried out by junior geological and prospecting companies. The assessment takes into account uniqueness of the deposits; predictive estimates confirmed by independent experts; required funding; complexity of implementation; use of innovative methods and technologies.

Who can participate

Companies and entrepreneurs developing exploration projects in the Russian Federation and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Participation in the competition is free but does not include admission to fee-paying events of the MINEX Russia Forum.
