Using MineTwin to support operational decisions at coal mine
The use of simulation models to make operational and medium-term decisions is standard in the mining industry. Modern modeling tools such as MineTwin make it possible to significantly speed up and simplify the creation of simulation models of mines and quarries. Such models are taking into account cyclical dependencies and complex constraints that cannot be measured by other tools.
The presentation will demonstrate how using a simulated coal pit in South Africa can help to make informed decisions. In particular, the process of solving the following practical tasks will be shown:
• substantiation of the effect of the introduction of sliding shifts of excavator operators;
• justification and calculation of the need to attract additional bulldozers;
• selection of the optimal frequency of explosions, taking into account the configuration of the open pit.
