Problems of university training of mining and geological personnel in the Siberian region

The mining and geological industry is experiencing a serious staff shortage. At the same time, there is a decrease in interest among young people in mining and geological professions. There is a low EG entrance score for mining and geological specialties of universities and a high percentage of student dropouts. The problems are the leakage of young talented teaching staff to production, the lack of approved professional standards for the majority of mining and geological professions, and the imperfection of existing educational standards. The necessity of activating mining and geological companies in creating a positive image of the mining and geological industry and participation in career guidance activities is shown. The approaches to improving the work on improving the qualifications of the personnel of mining and metallurgical companies on the basis of universities and obtaining a second higher education are considered.
