Experience in the development and implementation of machine vision of the foam product of flotation systems

The use of the visual characteristics of the foam surface is one of the main indicators of the efficiency of the flotation process. The technologist-flotator, on the basis of his experience, makes adjustments to the production. Traditional methods of assessing flotation parameters have a number of disadvantages associated with human factors: the subjectivity of process assessment associated with the qualification of a technologist, insufficient responsiveness to changes, the impossibility of retrospective analysis (other disadvantages of manual control in comparison with automatic control). Machine vision allows the visual characteristics of the foam to be used in an automated flotation control system, complementing the readings of the automated control system sensors.
