TECHNICAL SESSION 1 - MINEX Russia 2021
06 October 2021 / 13:30 - 15:30 | Tolstoy Hall

Structural analysis of ore deposits. Fantasy. Illusions. Reality

Structural models of many ore deposits are created without proper structural analysis and are incorrectly compared with models of well-studied reference deposits; there are many geological fantasies in such constructions. Fantasy models often lead to geological illusions and miscalculations of reserves. An adequate structural-geological model reflects the real geometry and kinematics of ore-controlling structures and is the basis for creating a reliable block model of reserves (mineral resources) and a prospecting model. Structural analysis should be performed by specialists - structural geologists.
